Forklift attachments are also called various devices. They are the best tools to make the forklift multi-purpose. They require that a variety of work attachments can be easily replaced on the forklift based on the fork, so that the forklift can adapt to the needs of various working conditions.

Forklift attachments are widely used in papermaking, packaging, printing, petroleum, chemical industry, construction, smelting, electronics, beverages, hardware, automobile manufacturing, warehousing, tobacco and other industries. They are efficient equipment for automated loading, unloading, stacking and handling.
The role of forklift attachments
An important means to improve the working efficiency and safety performance of forklifts and greatly reduce their damage is to equip forklifts with attachments.
1. High production efficiency and low operating cost
Mechanized handling takes less time than traditional manual handling, while reducing labor expenditure and cost and improving work efficiency. In the same handling cycle, the number of forklift actions is significantly reduced, and the corresponding tires, transmission gears, fuel consumption, etc. of the forklift are also reduced accordingly, and the operating cost is also reduced accordingly.
2. Safe and reliable operation, reducing the accident rate
The attachments designed and produced by professional forklift attachment manufacturers for different industry working conditions are designed with safety devices. In abnormal situations, the clamped (or forked) goods are not easy to slip, such as the pressure-maintaining device of the clamp attachment (when carrying goods, the oil pipe bursts, the hydraulic system maintains pressure, and the goods will not slip); the end buffer device of the side-shift attachment reduces the accident rate.
3. Low cargo loss
With the help of the unique clamping, side-shifting, rotation and other functions of the attachment, the goods can be transported, stacked or loaded and unloaded more safely, thereby minimizing the degree of cargo loss.
The use of attachments also reduces the frequency of use of pallets (such as no pallet handling operations), and the corresponding procurement and maintenance costs.
For example: using paper roll clamps to carry paper rolls can greatly reduce and avoid paper roll breakage. If a forklift without paper roll clamps is used, the breakage rate of paper rolls is 15%. For packaging companies with large paper consumption and high paper quality, the investment in accessories can be recovered in a relatively short period of time. The 15% breakage rate avoided thereafter can greatly reduce the company’s production costs;
The use of adjustable forks allows the driver to adjust the fork distance by operating the handle as needed while sitting in the seat, which improves work efficiency, reduces labor intensity, and avoids damage to the pallet and finger injuries during adjustment;
Using a push-pull device to carry materials and replacing the pallet with a slide plate is low-cost and saves the cost of pallet maintenance and stacking. In particular, stacking goods in containers and carriages can more effectively save stacking space. This shows the important role that forklift accessories play in giving full play to the functions of forklifts.
What are the forklift’s attributes?
The main forklift attributes include: paper roll clamps, carton clamps, soft bag clamps, pushers, pushers, rotators, rotary pushers, load stabilizers, single and double pallet forks, tobacco clamps, brick clamps, fork clamps, tire clamps, etc.
1. Fork Clamps
Applied to various forms of soft package goods, such as waste paper, box, waste plastic, chemical fiber and other industries for palletless handling and stacking or conventional pallet handling and loading and unloading operations.
2. Single and Double Pallet Fork Truck
Applied to food, beverage, import and export trade, canned goods and other industries, single or double pallets are required for stacking operations, especially suitable for handling and stacking operations of goods in containers.
3. Fork Positioner
Applied to various occasions such as machinery, ports, ceramics, building materials, agriculture, etc. where there are no rules for cargo yards and no specified pallets. By adjusting the distance between cargo and cargo hydraulically, the cargo on pallets of different specifications can be transported. There is no need for operators to manually adjust the distance between cargo and cargo, which reduces the labor intensity of operators, improves work efficiency, and reduces the damage of pallets and cargo.
4. Fork Positioner
Applied to the handling, loading and unloading of various bulk cargoes to achieve pallet-free operations. Such as waste paper recycling, paper mills, scrap metal recycling, garbage transfer stations and other waste industries. Efficient and economical handling and stacking without pallets.
5. Multi-Purpose Clamp
Applicable to tobacco, chemical fiber, ports and other industries, used for pallet-free handling, loading and unloading and stacking of cartons, wooden boxes, metal boxes or soft packages.
6. Foam Clamp
Mainly used for pallet-free handling in rubber, chemical, chemical fiber and other industries. Such as: sponge, rubber blocks, foam boards and other soft goods are safe and efficient.
7. Bale Clamp/Pulp Bale Clamp
Applied to handling various forms of soft-packaged goods, such as rags, waste paper, cotton, wool, hay, industrial scraps and other soft-packaged items. Efficient and economical handling and stacking operations can be performed without pallets.
8. Push/pull
Applicable to handling goods placed on skateboards (such as: electrical appliances, tools, hardware, fertilizers, food, beverages, etc.), achieving high-efficiency and low-maintenance handling and stacking operations.
9. Rotator
Usually used in conjunction with containers such as fork-type hoppers, it can quickly flip the goods in the container 360 degrees. It is widely used in industries such as food, chemicals, recycling, smelting and casting that require the hopper container to be flipped.
10. Revolving pushoff
Applicable to bagged goods such as plastic particles, cement, fertilizers, feed, etc., with pallet handling, loading and unloading and stacking operations. It can push out the goods and take out the pallet without manual labor, which is safe and efficient, and reduces labor intensity.
11. Smelting Clamp
Applied to various smelting industries, safely and efficiently transport various smelting products, ensure the safety of operators, and reduce the labor intensity of operators.
12. Hydro-cylinder clamp
Applicable to the disassembly, assembly, handling, and stacking of the mechanical telescopic cylinder of the hydraulic support of coal mine comprehensive mining, which is safe and efficient, saves manpower, and reduces the labor intensity of workers.
13. Paper Roll Clamp
Mainly used for loading and unloading and handling of round objects such as papermaking, printing, cartons, trade, and packaging.
14. Carton Clamp
Applicable to warehousing, home appliances, electronics and other industries, where goods need to be packaged in cartons and pallet-free handling and stacking operations.
In addition to using cargo as the most basic working accessories, the truck can also develop and equip a variety of interchangeable accessories according to user needs.
Such as side shift devices, sanitation accessories, clamps, rotators, barrel clamps, string rods, hooks, cargo buckets, etc.
The main components of common forklift attachments are: fixed parts–brackets, working devices, working cylinders, hose reeling devices.
Simple attachments: crane arms, string rods, oil drum clamps.
Complex attachments: buckets, fork sleeves, booms, flat clamps, paper roll clamps, lifting rods, barrel clamps, pushers, log clamps, crane arms, carton clamps, soft bag clamps, side shifters, tipping forks, forward forks, self-propelled lifting forks, etc.
Precautions for the use of forklift attachments
Various attachments are mostly composed of short piston hydraulic cylinders, high-pressure hoses, hose reels, quick connectors, round sealing rings, and special parts for attachments. These parts can be cleaned and maintained with reference to general hydraulic parts.
In the use of attachments, in addition to paying attention to abnormal phenomena such as oil leakage and rupture of the pipeline system, especially the allowable load, lifting height, cargo size, applicable range of attachments, and width during operation of the attachments, they should be strictly implemented according to the performance parameter table of the attachments, and neither overload nor partial load can be allowed.
For eccentric loading, the short-term eccentric loading range of small and medium-tonnage forklifts with attachments should be within -150mm.
In the use of forklifts, the thickness and length of the two forks should be roughly equal.
After the two forks are installed on the fork frame, the upper horizontal surface should be kept in the same plane
The operating procedures must be strictly followed, and overloading or long-distance transportation of goods is not allowed; when carrying objects that are too long or whose center of gravity cannot be determined, there must be a dedicated person to direct and be extra careful.
When using a forklift, the fork spacing should be suitable for the width of the load, the forks should be inserted as deep as possible under the load, and the minimum mast tilt should be used to stabilize the load to prevent the load from sliding backwards. When lowering the load, the mast can be tilted forward slightly to safely lower the cargo and pull out the forks. During operation, the forks should be operated at a low speed, preferably 30~40mm from the ground, and the mast should be tilted backward appropriately. The forks should not be raised or lowered arbitrarily during driving, and turning on ramps and driving across slopes are not allowed. It is not allowed to unload cargo by flipping over pallets with forks; it is not allowed to directly shovel dangerous goods and flammable goods with forks; it is not allowed to use a single fork for operation or inertia force to lift cargo; and it is not allowed to use braking inertia to slide round or easily rolling cargo.
