Choose according to the quality requirements of the project:
1. If you want to obtain uniform compaction density, you can choose a tire roller. Tire rollers do not destroy the original viscosity of the soil during rolling, and there is good bonding between the layers of soil. In addition, the front wheel can swing, so the compaction is relatively uniform and there will be no false compaction.
2. If you want to compact and level the road surface, you can choose a full-drive roller.
In areas where the compaction capacity of the roller is not required, a roller with low line pressure and flexible maneuverability can be used.
If you want to achieve the compaction effect as soon as possible, you can choose a large-tonnage roller to shorten the construction period.
Choose according to the thickness of the paving layer:
1. When rolling asphalt concrete pavement, the weight, amplitude and vibration frequency of the roller should be selected according to the paving thickness of the mixture. Generally, on thin pavement with a thickness of less than 60mm, it is best to use a small vibratory roller of 2~6t with an amplitude of 0.35~0.60mm, which can avoid the occurrence of piles, ripples and damage to aggregates:
2. At the same time, in order to prevent the asphalt mixture from being overcooled, rolling should be carried out immediately after paving. For thick pavement with a thickness greater than 100mm, large and medium-sized vibratory rollers with high amplitude (up to 1.0mm) and 6~10t should be used.
Choose according to the type (grade) of highway:
1. For first- and second-level national trunk highways and special roads for automobiles, large vibratory rollers with high compaction capacity of 6~10t should be used; for highways below the third level, or when compaction operations are not performed frequently, it is best to equip a flexible and maneuverable vibratory roller of about 2t.
2. For cement concrete pavement, a tire-driven tandem vibratory roller can be used;
3. For asphalt concrete pavement, a fully driven vibratory roller should be used;
4. For the bottom layer of the high-grade pavement subgrade, it is best to use a tire roller or a tire-driven vibratory roller for compaction to obtain uniform density
5. When repairing the pavement, a static-action smooth-wheel roller can be used.
Choose according to the type of compacted material:
1. For rock fill compaction, a large-tonnage roller should be used to displace large blocks;
2. For clay compaction, it is best to use a convex tamping roller;
3. For the compaction of mixed materials, it is best to choose a vibratory roller to make the large and small particles evenly mixed,
4. For deep compaction, a heavy-duty vibratory roller should be used for slow rolling, and for shallow layers, a static-action roller should be used
