Maintenance strategy for road rollers and their accessories

As one of the engineering machinery, road rollers are now widely used in various places. If the maintenance and repair of road rollers are unreasonable, a series of mechanical failures will occur.
Next, we will teach you how to maintain road rollers for various accessories of road rollers.

1. Gearbox maintenance

The gearbox should be cleaned at least once a season. When cleaning, first stop the car in a hot state, unscrew the drain plug on the side of the gearbox, drain the lubricating oil in the box, then unscrew the oil plug and fill the box with kerosene, start the diesel engine, and let the gearbox run at a low speed for 2-3 minutes. Stop the car to drain the kerosene, clean the oil plug and screw it to the gearbox (note: the oil on the kerosene must be cleaned to prevent the lubricating oil from mixing with the residual kerosene and losing the lubricating effect), and then add new lubricating oil until the oil level reaches the mark line of the dipstick.
The gearbox uses No. 20 gear oil.
The positioning device of the speed control mechanism and the reversing mechanism must be checked and adjusted frequently to keep the gears in the proper position to avoid gear disengagement accidents. Always pay attention to check the leakage of each seal of the gearbox. If the seal is damaged, replace it in time. Always check the bolts connecting the gearbox and the frame, tighten them when necessary, and do not let them loosen or fall off.

2. Hydraulic system maintenance

Check whether the mounting bolts of the filter, valve, motor, oil pump, oil cylinder, etc. are loose, and whether there is oil leakage at each joint.
Observe the oil level gauge on the side of the oil tank. When the hydraulic oil is too little, add the same grade of filtered hydraulic oil.
The hydraulic oil tank should be cleaned and replaced once every six months. When adding or changing the oil, be careful not to mix impurities and dirt into the oil tank. The new oil added or replaced must be filtered in advance.
Hydraulic oil uses No. 68 anti-wear hydraulic oil.
The hydraulic oil filter should be cleaned or the filter element should be replaced after every 500 hours of use.

3. Vibration wheel maintenance

The lubricating oil of the vibration wheel should be replaced every 1000 hours. Check the vibration wheel lubricant for leakage at any time: when checking the oil level, turn the oil filling port to the top, open the oil and let the oil leak until there is no leakage or little leakage.
Replace the vibration wheel lubricant during maintenance, and pay attention to cleaning when changing the oil.
Use CD grade 30 diesel engine oil for lubricating oil.
For lubrication and maintenance of the travel bearing, add sufficient calcium-based grease to the corresponding oil cup position after the whole machine has been used for an average of 20 days.

4. Maintenance of the main clutch

In addition to paying attention to adjusting its operating mechanism at any time, the main clutch should also pay attention to checking and adjusting the ends of its three release rods to be located in the same plane, and keep a certain gap (0.4~0.7 mm) with the release bearing.
The main clutch should be engaged and disengaged smoothly, and no excessive force should be applied. When the clutch is engaged, the clutch pedal must be returned to its original position to fully engage the clutch. When the clutch is disengaged, the pedal must be stepped to the bottom to fully disengage the clutch. When operating, the clutch must be prevented from being in a semi-clutch and semi-engaged state to avoid burning the clutch.
Check the main clutch frequently to avoid oil stains on the friction plate and pressure plate.

5. Side drive maintenance

Since the side drive has a low speed and a large load, it is easily contaminated by dust and sand. You should always check its lubrication condition, regularly remove the mud, sand, and fine stone dirt on the gears, and apply a new layer of calcium-based grease to avoid damage accidents.

6. Battery maintenance

After a long time of use, if the battery is improperly used and maintained, it is common to see low specific gravity of the electrolyte, high voltage during charging, and low voltage during discharge. White crystalline particles are found outside the plate, forming the “acid salt” of the battery, making it unusable. The acid-salted battery can be restored to normal after 1-2 charges with a small current.
Use an acid hydrometer to check the charge of the battery pack to see if the battery is fully charged. The specific gravity of the electrolyte should be 1.28 (150C) when fully charged. If the specific gravity drops to 1.2, the battery pack should be charged with another power source.
Under normal conditions, the generator of the diesel engine is enough to fully charge the battery, but in winter, the battery pack should be kept fully charged to avoid freezing. To avoid hardening of the battery electrodes and the formation of sulfuric acid scale, the battery should not be in a discharge state for more than 24 hours. If it is not used after charging, it should be charged once a week until the battery emits bubbles.
The surface of the battery must be kept clean at all times. If there is dust or electrolyte flowing out, it is best to wipe it with a rag soaked in ammonium chloride alcohol or 10% ammonium sulfate solution.

7. Diesel engine maintenance

The diesel engine maintenance is carried out according to the diesel engine maintenance manual.

Lubrication of the road roller

Except for the hinge and both ends of the steering cylinder, the pressure-resistant lithium-based lubricant is used for the lubrication of the road roller, and the rest are ordinary lubricants.

Cleaning, storage and transportation of road rollers

1. Cleaning of road rollers

After each operation of the road roller, the dirt and dust on it must be washed off. At this time, special attention should be paid to the cleaning of the diesel engine, generator, starter motor, injection pump, injector, hydraulic pump, etc., as well as the surface of the hydraulic pipeline. These places must be wiped clean with a dry and soft rag.

If the road roller is parked for a long time, the water in the engine water tank must be drained (in the cold winter, it should be drained after the operation is completed every day). Carefully clean the dirt and dust on the machine, wipe the outer surface of each component and all lubrication holes with kerosene and fill them with grease once, and apply butter or anti-rust glue to the unpainted exposed parts.

2. Storage of road rollers

Road rollers should be stored in a dry warehouse. It is forbidden to store irrelevant items and gasoline. In case of outdoor parking on rainy days, the parking ground should be kept dry and must be covered with rainproof cloth.

3. Transportation of rollers

When transporting rollers over short distances, the rollers can be driven by themselves at high speeds depending on the road conditions. When transporting rollers over long distances, the rollers should be transported by flatbed trailers. During lifting and transportation, the safety locking device on the body should be used to lock the frame to prevent the body and frame from rotating relative to each other. At the same time, the rollers should be securely fixed on the flatbed trailers.
